Even those individuals with their eye on luxury, have been bit by the green bug. There is a Green Spa Network which lists spas who are making eco-friendly decisions on how they manage their businesses. Some of these included using non-toxic cleaning solutions, low flow tiolets, compostable corn based cups, organic cotton linens, interiors made of salvaged wood or sustainable cork or bamboo and even the use of all organic products.
Next time you feel the need for a little luxury, check out the n…

We hope that everyone takes sometime to celebrate the Earth this Earth Day and take the time to let go of one non eco friendly way of life today.
Did you know that your dryer sheets may actually be harmful to you? Many dryer sheets contain chemicals known as benzyl acetate, limonene, camphor and chloroform (a known carcinogen). The FDA's reasoning for stating that such dryer sheets are safe is that supposably the chemicals cannot penetrate the skin when the clothes are worn; however, you might…

Now that it is time for some spring cleaning besides using eco-friendly cleaners, we can also find more eco-friendly ways of reducing your clutter. If you have household items, kindly used clothing or furniture that you no longer would like to keep consider giving those items to charity (such as The Junior League of Savannah or Goodwill). You can reduce your clutter, save more items from going in the landfill and get a tax write-off. Also, check our Greenfest 09, they are having a Goodwill dropo…

Yes, there has not been a blog post in awhile. We had to say farewell to our dear friend, John Richardson. He was a lover of nature. He loved plants and planting. Frogs, fish and wildlife and the ocean. If there is anything to learn from the death of someone that you loved, I think it may be to take the time to slow things down a bit and enjoy what nature presents to you. Enjoy the night air and listen to the crickets. Spend more time with those that you love as that time can sometimes be cut sh…

With the aftermath of 911, the airports have proven steadfast in their rules of what can and cannot be brought onto planes for security reasons. Thus, the no liquid over 2 ounces and all liquids in carryons must be placed in a small see through bag. As with many if you who travel, I found this to be troublesome as how can we as a nation try to be greener when we are now being asked to use more plastic. I did what I could. I bought small bottles (of course, clearly marked) for shampoo, conditione…

Yes, this is true and something you might be asked in a trivia game. I know that many greenies have been speaking the wonders of vinegar for quite some time now. I will not ponder too much; other than regular white vinegar work wonders for animals stains on light colored carpet, works perfectly to clean windows and when a little is added to a water spray bottle works as a disciplinary tool for unruly cats (this one straight from a vet!).
So every week I have tried to replace one item that our h…

As anyone who works in an office knows, you deal with tons of paper. In the past few years, we have gone to great lengths to reduce the amount of paper that we use. We spend much time getting our clients and others to correspond with us via internet so that we can scan and compare documents without the use of paper. Many courts know have moved to electronic filing of documents as well and you know how many documents that our courts encounter. Also, you can recycle your inkjet and toner cartridge…

As many people make resolutions for things that they would like to see accomplished in the new year, this small item we held. We wanted to bring the community together in a easy, user-friendly way to discuss ways that you have become or are becoming more green in the coming year. Also, we have decided every month, besides recycling and less consumption, to look at the every da…
