A green city

We hope that everyone takes sometime to celebrate the Earth this Earth Day and take the time to let go of one non eco friendly way of life today.

Did you know that your dryer sheets may actually be harmful to you? Many dryer sheets contain chemicals known as benzyl acetate, limonene, camphor and chloroform (a known carcinogen). The FDA's reasoning for stating that such dryer sheets are safe is that supposably the chemicals cannot penetrate the skin when the clothes are worn; however, you might consider that there are many things that are no placed on the body to be absorbed through a patch (example: nicotine patches).

What can you do?

You can go online or to stores such as Brighter Day and Whole Foods and purchase chemical free, reusable dryer sheets.

Or add 1/2 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle when washing laundry.

Make your own form of dryer sheets by filling a small cloth bag with dried lavender and placing it in the dryer with your wet clothes.

And you can always hang your clothes on the line which will not only help conserve energy but will reduce the carbon dioxide emissions.
